What's the difference between a thong and a G-string?
Here's my guide!
The numbers relate the the montage of pictures below.
- Basques
These go between the bust and the hips and are designed to enhance curves. They are similar to corsets.
- Briefs
A brief is like a pair of male Y-fronts. They cover the bum and the front.
- French Knickers
These are shorter than Shorts and cover about half of the bum. The lower half is similar to a thong.
- G-String
Similar to a thong only there is less material around the bum.
- Shorts
A smaller, female version of the boxer shorts. The shorts usually cover most of the bum.
- Stockings
These are tights that go up to the thigh. They are sometimes held up by a suspender belt.
- Suspender Belt
This is worn over the knickers and has clips to hold up stockings or suspenders.
- Thongs
These consist of a small area of fabric covering the genitals and then a thin strap that goes between the bum cheeks. These are used to hide a visible panty line when the woman wears tight trousers.

Many thanks to the La Senza website which helped with my explanations and where I 'borrowed' the pictures from. View the La Senza catalogue.
